Aqua Backyard Wedding with Jars

If every time you see an aqua-colored something, anything, and you just have to have it...if people know you as Ms. Aqua...then an aqua wedding may be just the right theme to show off your classy, fun-loving personality.

Here are some ideas and tips for a beautiful backyard spread, infused with aqua and pink accents with a contemporary shabby chic undertone. It's perfect for a girly girl wedding and filled with jars. You'll simply love it!

Personalized Memories

Personalize your backyard wedding with images of the bride and groom throughout their childhood and together as a couple. Pictures of first car, graduations, funny memories, childhood friends and fun vacations will entertain guests from arrival to the cutting of the cake.

Affix printed 4x6 pictures to colored card stock (in this case, blue, pink and light green) with double stick tape. Then hang them from strings of lighted mini lanterns with wooden clothes pins (a very shabby chic style!) These clothes pins have aqua printed ribbon (with the names of the bride and groom and their wedding date) tied in a bow, finished with a clear rhinestone in the center of the bow.

Ambient Lighting

Hang the lantern lights from surrounding trees or use shepard's hooks, planted in the ground, to create a scalloped look.

Table Decor

Centerpieces varied from table to table, advancing the shabby chic edge. A white metal lantern with a tea light, mason jars  with a silk white or pink rose (anchored by glass stones), an old balsamic vinegar jar with a pink or white silk Gerbera daisy, a shallow floating candle dish, a square glass dish with turquoise sand and a pink flower candle and floral printed tumblers and tall glasses in an antique color with candles were among the mix at each table.

Several glass votives with white, pink or aqua candles were scattered at each table and lit at dusk. Two printed aqua napkins anchored with a small white ceramic ring dish filled with mixed nuts denoted seats for each couple. Guests were offered the ring dishes as a take-home treasure.

Here is where each of the table centerpiece items were purchased:

  • Mason jars:  ACE Hardware (they also sell cases of these at Walmart now)
  • Balsamic vinegar jars:  Trader Joe's (they have the cute shape that is perfect as a vase for a Gerbera daisy)
  • Ring dishes:  Pier 1 Imports
  • White metal lantern:  Pier 1 Imports (Or check Hobby Lobby!)
  • Silk Gerbera daisies:  Pier 1 Imports
  • Silk roses:  Michael's (craft store)
  • Floral tumblers and tall glasses: Pier 1 Imports
  • Pink flower candles:  Pier 1 Imports
  • Floating candle dish:  Pier 1 Imports

A white long table cloth was topped with a smaller aqua table cloth. White folding chairs were adorned with white netting tied in a bow with an aqua ribbon accent.
