A Miscellaneous Things (aka Declutter) Jar

Have you ever noticed that it's the little things on the floor of a house that are responsible for a huge  amount of visual clutter? The lost marbles, Legos, coins and crumbs are left behind by children and eventually make their way to the baseboards, making an otherwise clean space look very messy.

Then there's the next problem:

What do we do with all of these miscellaneous things?

Designate a jar.

I've learned that by having a designated jar to store miscellaneous small toys, screws, washers, rubber bands, pens, buttons, puzzle pieces and so much more, it's way easier to tidy the house. It's also less stressful and less time-consuming because I don't have to figure out where each item belongs or dig through garage bins to put them away each time.

Furthermore, when someone says, "Mom, I can't find my [insert random part here]..." I know exactly where to look.

It's simply amazing how having a plan  (such as establishing a Miscellaneous Things Jar) reduces frustration and helps to maintain an organized home.

So grab an old jar, remove the label and get organized! :)
